Just Plain Beans

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pound of Beans (any of our Fresh Dry Beans)
  • 1/2 Cup Sliced Carrots
  • 1/4 Cup Diced Onions
  • 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1/2 Tsp Pepper
  • 4 Bay Leaves
  • Optional: Ham Hock or 1/2 Pound Cooked Ham or 2 Tbsp Chicken Broth or 2 Tbsp Vegetable Broth (that's 4 different options depending on preference, diet or availability)

Directions:

Preparation: Look, soak and rinse the beans per our recommendations. Use the quick soak method if using a crock pot.

Stove Top: Place the beans in a pot, cover with water and add all the ingredients. Cook on high for 2 hours and then on low for 2-4 hours until the beans are soft. Remove the bay leaves and serve. Enjoy!

Crock Pot: Place the beans in a crock pot, cover with an inch of water and add all the ingredients. Cook on high for 2 hours and then on low for 6 hours, add water about half-way through cooking to keep the beans covered. Remove the bay leaves and serve. Enjoy!
